The CPSS Scholarships are made available through the support of CPSS member and associate member companies. The intended recipients are those EE and ME students interested in the power engineering area. To learn more about the CPSS, see its homepage : http://cpss.sdstate.edu. Applications are accepted between the first day of classes (each semester) and midterm (sometimes even up to a few weeks before the end of the semester). Scholarships are awarded on a semester-by-semester basis. Applications are reviewed by the CPSS Coordinator at midterm and up to a few week prior to the end of the semester until all funds are disbursed.
Numerous other power-related scholarships for EE students are administered by the EE Program Scholarship Committee and require separate application. Please see the: EE Scholarship List.
The following CPSS scholarships are .
CPSS General Academic Scholarship - Five to Ten in the Range $100-$500
The recipient must be either an EE or ME student and
the amount of the scholarship is based on the student's interest in the power
area as demonstrated by past and present employment in the power industry or
related areas, OR a well established and clearly communicated set of career
goals in the power area, AND the student's extracurricular and community
activities, and office/organizational responsibilities held.
Scholarships are available to students starting in their freshmen year up
through their senior year.
Additional funds made available to students participating in power-related activities
EE 435 Stipends
- $50-$150
These stipends are for students
enrolled in the EE 435 Seminar in Power Systems course. The amount of the
stipend depends on the number of students enrolled in the course and the number
of field trips taken. Typically these funds are used to offset expenses incurred
when traveling on field trips.
EE 492 Stipends
- Ten in the range of $150-$250
These stipends are made available to
students enrolled in the EE 492 Special Problems course that have a power
emphasis.
The amount of the stipend depends on the number of students enrolled in the
course. Typically these funds are used to offset expenses incurred when
traveling on major field trips, such as the Summer Power Technology Tour (Dr.
Steven Hietpas) or the PV in
the Parks Program (Dr. Michael Ropp).
