Computing Services at South Dakota State University has  developed Geowall project. Geowall is a combination of new         projection technology, fast graphics cards and linux PCs.Using  Geowall it has been possible to provide a stereo projection  system that is much more affordable than previous commercial solutions. The GEOWALL project makes use of these projection systems to visualize structure and dynamics of 3d/3d objects in stereo to aid the understanding of spatial relationships.

A good understanding of spatial relationships is  required for the study of Chemistry/ Architecture and Geography. Traditional teaching methods have strongly relied upon 2D representations through maps and profiles that are occasionally augmented by physical models. In most cases Scientists have been trained to understand the 3D objects from such representation, but spatial thinking skills are required for students at Introductory Level.

Most of the information came from Geowall Consortium. There for more information on geowall www.geowall.org may be the best place to look at.

The GeoWall is based on the Agave http:/www.evl.uic.edu/cavern/agave/ technology developed at the Electronic Visualization Lab http:/www.evl.uic.edu/
