The SDSU physics department hosts
several star parties for area schools. During these events, numerous
telescopes are set up to view the planets, moon, and many deep-sky objects
such as star clusters, nebula, and galaxies. A tutorial on
constellation identification is also provided. Schools participating
in the program in the past include, Brookings, Elkton, Volga, Great Plains
Lutheran in Watertown, Sioux Fall Christian, and Langford. Observing
sessions have also been provided for the South Dakota Science and Math
Teachers Conference in Huron. If you are interested in having a star
party at your school, please contact Larry Browning or Judy Vondruska. |
